Hello, I’m Rosa Fox. I’m a software developer with over 10 years of professional experience in the tech industry. Here’s a little glimpse into my journey so far:
Professional Experience
Software Developer
I have a decade of experience as a developer, primarily in Ruby. I’ve had the privilege of working on a wide range of high scale projects and technologies. View my LinkedIn to see my work experience. Lately my work has focused on experimenting with emerging technology.
Leadership
My experiences as a developer have allowed me to lead and guide talented software teams, fostering collaboration. I also enjoy my role as a line manager, supporting developers in their personal development.
I was co-chair of the GDS Women’s Network for two years, overseeing five working groups. I have led the organisation of various community events over the years.
Academia
I earned a Distinction in MSc ‘Digital and Technology Specialist (Software Engineer)’. My thesis explored themes such as software maintenance models and learning and development. Aside from software development, I studied modules about innovation management, business and leadership. I pursued this degree through a part-time apprenticeship program from 2020 to 2022.
I achieved a Music Informatics undergraduate degree from Sussex University. This comprised music and computer science modules. My final project drew ideas from a number of different areas such as algorithmic composition, sonification of environmental data, sound art and implementation of hardware and software.
I studied modules such as machine learning, computer vision, AI, natural language processing, Java, studio composition, classical analysis and classical guitar performance (studying guitar with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama).

I have run countless coding workshops over the years. My proudest achievement is that I co-organised codebar for around seven years, starting the Brighton chapter. See my events page for more info.
Public Speaker
I’ve had the privilege of speaking at various tech conferences and events including London Ruby User’s Group (video), Brighton Ruby Conference and She Says Brighton.
I created and delivered multiple iterations of a six week Break into Public Speaking workshop with my colleagues Lucy and Anna. Read Lucy’s blog post about it here.
I have delivered presentations on the subject of public speaking through my engagements with Apolitical, in addition to providing mentorship during Diversity CFP Day.

I love playing guitar. Recently I have been learning flamenco style. I am by no means a professional but check out my music page for guitar videos and maybe even some music coding…
Mentor and Tech Educator
I enjoy mentoring aspiring developers and educators, helping them navigate the ever-evolving tech landscape. I have taught people from ages 6 to 70 through various workshops. I was a Sussex STEM Ambassador and completed STEM extension training. I have run workshops for organisations such as RailsBridge, The Curiosity Hub, Ideas Test, Brighton Digital Festival and the Royal Institute of Computer Science.
Its been a long time since I created any tech content but I plan to start up again soon. Follow my Youtube, Instagram and TikTok or check out my blog :).
